THE LIVING GAME

Get your family talking.
Really talking.

A conversation card game and a 28-day guide for parents of teenagers who've gone quiet. Built by a therapist. Played at kitchen tables.

A game, not a lecture

The Living Game starts with a deck of 52 question cards, played in three levels. Level 1 is silly on purpose — because laughing together is how a family remembers what easy feels like. Level 2 gets curious. Level 3 goes deeper, once the room is ready. Ten minutes at the dinner table, in the car, or waiting for the chippy.

LEVEL 11/52
What's the worst song someone in this family plays in the car?

LEVEL 221/52
What's something you're good at that you think nobody notices?

LEVEL 348/52
Finish the sentence: talking about how I feel would be easier if…

Rule three — the one that matters most: what's said in the game stays in the game. Nothing gets carried into an argument later. Ever.

Why I made it

I'm a hypnotherapist with nearly 30 years experience in the field of Anxiety, Depression and Panic. I work with young people on the things they can't say out loud — and with their parents, who are usually desperate to help and completely out of ideas.

Almost every parent asks me some version of the same question: "Why won't they talk to me?"

Here's what years of this work have taught me: they will. But almost never when they're asked to. Teenagers open up sideways — mid-laugh, mid-game, mid-washing-up — to people who feel safe and aren't fishing. So I built the sideways way in. The cards open the door. The 28-day HOPE guide shows parents what to do once they're through it — because the honest truth is, you can't make a teenager talk. You can become someone they talk to.

What it's for

The laughing comes back

Ten minutes of daft questions, and a family remembers what easy feels like. Easy is the ground everything else grows from.

You hear more than "fine"

The cards do the asking, so nobody's being quizzed. Adults answer first — and answers arrive that haven't been heard in years.

You learn what opens the door

The deeper cards tell you, in their words, why talking is hard and what would make it easier. That's your map from then on.

And to be straight with you: this isn't therapy, and it doesn't pretend to be. It's a game that builds the conditions real conversations grow in — and it tells you clearly where to turn if your family needs more than a game.
